Steph joined Paterson Marsh in 2001, shortly after it was acquired by Paul Marsh, and cut her teeth working with all of the existing authors, estates and translation clients, before developing her own list of authors.

Steph represents non-fiction writing only, both popular and academic, and is particularly interested in psychology, current affairs, popular science and, more generally, books about the way in which we live and interact with each other. She is also very happy to look at well written, engaging memoir and sensible, down to earth self-help.

Amongst her authors writing for a general audience are Robert Rowland Smith, a philosopher turned management consultant who will be a name to watch, Shanida Nataraja, a neuroscientist exploring the effects of meditative practices on the brain, and Andrea Clifford-Poston, a child psychologist and parenting expert.

On the more specialized side of Steph’s list are the acclaimed psychoanalyst Patrick Casement, the grammar expert John Seely, the education textbook author Peter Moss and the historian and Winner of the 2007 Richard E Neustadt Book Prize Hugh Brogan.

Alongside her primary agenting, Steph is Company Secretary and Rights Director of Paterson Marsh and sells international rights in conjunction with Annina Meyerhans. Working with authors to build an international profile is an important and enjoyable part of Steph’s work and occasionally gives her a chance to make use of her degree in French and German.
